CDNs

A CDN (Content Delivery Network) is a global network of servers, that delivers web content like images, videos, and scripts, to users from a server geographically closer to them, in order to reduce load times, and improve website performance.
Most content and libraries on this website, other than the obvious like my YouTube embed or feed, are loaded directly from the site itself, and not from an external CDN.
I make every effort to have content load directly from this site, however some libraries such as jQuery and Font Awesome, may still need to be loaded from an external library or CDN.
By using this website, you acknowledge that some content or libraries, may be loaded from an external CDN. Under no circumstances shall 1Macman's Place nor its owner, be liable or responsible, for any content loaded from an external CDN.

Google Analytics

The 1Macman's Place website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service, provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site.
The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address), will be transmitted to and stored by Google, on servers in the United States.
Google uses this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity, for website operators, and providing other services relating to website activity, and Internet usage.
Google may also transfer the information to third parties, where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information, on Google’s behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data, held by Google.
You may refuse the use of cookies, by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser. Please note however, that if you do choose to do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.
I have also implemented a method to obtain user consent, before allowing the use of cookies, in order to make the website compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
By using this website, means you consent to the processing of data about you by Google, in the manner and for the purposes, set forth above. Under no circumstances shall 1Macman's Place nor its owner, be liable or responsible for any Google related actions.

YouTube Videos

The theater page has movies, that are shared from my YouTube channel. The video feed is done through the no-cookie version of the YouTube player, which uses the domain youtube-nocookie.com for embeds.
The no-cookie version of the YouTube player, offers a privacy-enhanced mode, which prevents most tracking cookies from being set, until a user plays the video. It's a useful step towards reducing automatic tracking, and an important difference compared to standard embeds, where cookies are often set immediately when the page loads, even if the user never clicks play.
YouTube employs local storage in the users’ browser to store a unique device identifier, independent of whether a no-cookie YouTube video is loaded or not. However local storage is acceptable, as it never leaves the user's browser. The data stored in local storage is not sent along with HTTP requests like cookies are.
Even though I have a method to obtain user consent, before allowing the use of cookies, it does not cover videos. YouTube will still get relevant user data, when you play a video.
The videos on the theater page require YouTube cookies to be enabled, in order to play them. Therefore before you can view the page, you will need to accept their use. If you choose to reject their use, you won't be able to view it.

Compliance

In May of 2018, a uniform data law called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), took effect across all 27 EU member states, to protects the privacy of its citizens on the world’s digital infrastructures.
Typically we don’t even notice cookies are in use, however they can collect large amounts of data, which can be used to identify users without their consent.
In order to make the website compliant with these regulations, I have implemented a method to obtain user consent, before allowing the use of cookies. Please note however, that some features of the website may not function properly, if all cookies are disabled.
